The new manager of St Joseph's Prayer Centre is Sr. Nora Coughlan.
My background has been in the field of education. During my career I have been privileged to work with young people of all ages.
Since retiring from the teaching profession I have had experience of working in retreat centres as well as in university chaplaincies in both London and Oxford. I also spent a short time teaching in a secondary school for girls in a remote area of Kenya.
It gives me much joy now to invite you to consider coming to spend some time with us at our Prayer Centre situated amid the beautiful pinewoods near Formby Point, close to Southport and Liverpool.
The Prayer Centre is ideal for individuals and group retreats. Come for the day or stay longer. We welcome all who are searching for life in its fullness.
Upstairs, we offer 20 rooms, not ensuite. For individuals who have difficulty negotiating stairs we have two rooms on the ground floor.
We have three meeting rooms suitable for groups of 10, 16-18, and one large room that could accommodate day groups of 30 or more.
We have two main meeting rooms: one is suitable for groups up to 18; and the larger room can accommodate over 50 people. Upstairs, the Oasis Room is a quiet space for individuals or small groups for quiet reflection days.
Within the house itself there are several quiet corners for reflection, and the Sisters' Prayer Room as well as the large Chapel are also available for your use.
We welcome school groups, confirmation groups, parishes—day visits or residential. There are various meal arrangements.
The National Trust pine forests surround us and there are lots of woodland walks. The sea is just a 10 minute walk away.
